About Us

Fresha is an iconic New Zealand brand that has been proudly gracing supermarket shelves with a range of food wrap and cleaning products for over 50 years.

The origins of Fresha began in the early 1960’s, when Wellingtonian entrepreneurs Harry Perrett and his son Malcolm started packing waxed and greaseproof papers and plastic bags for local supermarkets. These items were very quickly supplemented with a range of household cleaning products, also under the Fresha brand name. Harry and Malcolm were the friends of the housewife, providing them with quality products for everyday use in the home at a fair price.

Harry eventually retired but the business continued to grow under the direction of Malcolm who carried on the family tradition of manufacturing these, by now, well-known and trusted household items. Baking & Cooking Paper and Foil were eventually added to the Fresha range as the brand continued to grow and become established in supermarkets throughout the North Island.

Malcolm continued with the culture established by Harry, maintaining their belief that they should support local industry and create jobs for Kiwis, instead of outsourcing to Asian manufacturing as so many of their multi national competitors had done.

When Malcolm retired in 2012 he sold the business to long time associate company Paragon MultiPlex Limited who share the same philosophy as the original founders of the business. And whilst the labelling and presentation of the Fresha range has been modernised, Fresha is still a local company supporting local jobs.

Fresha is now one of the very few locally manufactured brands producing food wraps for our kitchen pantry and cleaning products for our laundry. Paragon MultiPlex aims to protect local manufacturing and jobs by maintaining high standards and offering a quality product at a fair price. Paragon MultiPlex are equally committed to maintaining a focus on sustainability and the environment. This includes using recyclable materials and reducing the amount of packaging where possible.

The Fresha legacy established by Harry and Malcolm lives on, with Fresha products being true companions in Kiwi homes and continually developing a bigger and brighter future for everyone.
